A go-wild Jungle Safari in the famous Bardia National Park

Jungle Safari in Nepal

The Bardia National Park is smaller than the Chitwan National Park but houses the same exotic Animals and jungle environment of the Tarai. To reach the Royal Bardia national park, there are daily flights as well as Public buses from Kathmandu to Nepalganj. The park office is situated 20 Km southwest along a lush green Highway. There are numerous lodges and hotel resorts so there is no real problem for accommodation, however the number of tourists’ increase during the peak season time so it’s always better to have an advance booking before you departure. Bardia is more isolated then Chitwan & the reason why it has fewer resorts and fewer visitors. But this also adds to the excitement of exploring this jungle which offers more adventure than you would even find in Chitwan. All resorts are at the border of the national park and numerous jungle activities are possible. A wide variety of jungle activities are available in both parks. Elephant riders are the best way to explore the jungle and search for wildlife. Jeep safaris are also available for those who don't feel like riding atop an elephant while others might enjoy a jungle walk with an experienced guide who can tell you all about the wildlife and vegetation that is unique to the Terai region.

However, you can bring Light clothing with sunglasses and hats from April onwards because it’s quite hot this time of the year in the plains of Nepal. Pants should be worn during elephant rides as it’s comfortable. Bright colors such as red and white should be avoided since these colors have been known to upset the rhinos & other animals. Red should be a big ‘No’. Comfortable walking shoes are essential. Please carry only the bare necessities but not jewelry and valuable items. During the warmer months swimming suits are recommended. And for the last but not the least, always ensure that you have enough film for your camera because the wonderful sights & sceneries at these parks with the animals they look after are just so many.
